Day 2 in Wales - cycled the Ironman course (just the big lap), had a little swim in the sea and sunbathed waaaaay to much for a 'training' holiday! Honestly couldn't have picked a better week. Just what I've been needing to escape and recharge!

Wales Day 1
So I've taken a trip to Wales to recce out the Ironman course - the build up was awful, the weather has looked to be absolutely terrible and even on the drive in it's been pretty awful.
However...

Up The Odda - 6th Place
Last minute into the Up The Odda race after a couple from Lakers pulled out.
It's a bloody tough course. Like insanely tough. 10k over 2 loops with the end hill being an absolutely brutal 40% gradient with 3 stiles.
As I said, tough!

Leicester Victoria Parkrun
Back in Leicester this weekend and decided to do the Leicester Victoria Parkrun this time rather than my 'local' Braunstone Parkrun which is now a pretty awful course since it's been changed...

Manchester Marathon - Sub 3 Hours and GFA!
Where to start? To sub 3 a marathon has to be the aim of most semi-serious runners, and I've finally, finally done it!
3 Lakers ventured to Manchester today: myself, Rikki and Paul. Out of the 3 of us, I'm the only one of us to have ever ran a marathon before so I basically was the only one who had any idea what I was letting myself in for!

Happy New Year (Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016)!
I haven't posted much here lately, what with my knee issues and hip pain and because, well, it's Winter and there's not much to share!
Like last year I've learned some important lessons, namely that trying to do 4 big races in 4 months just doesn't work. I've had moderate success this year position wise having come 2nd place in the Ladybower 20. And of course there's the fact that I completed my first Ironman in Bolton, UK with a time of 14:18:45; it might not have been the time I was hoping for, but it was faster than the time I was expecting.
